I think your plan looks great! Our district started implmenting professional learning comunities a couple of years ago. The core teachers actually have an extra common planning period so their PLC's have time to work together. Teachers have found this very beneficial!
ReplyDeleteBridgett - We actually use PLCs in our district, and they have been very successful. I believe it helps with shared responsibility to uphold norms and vision for a school. It also gives staff a voice in collaborative decision making. There is a lot of literature on PLCs out there. This past year we had the following PLCs on our campus specifically - Differentiation, STAAR Writing, 21st Century Learning, Student Management, Student Activities and a couple of more. I am looking forward to see the formation of your plan and the progress!
ReplyDeleteWe actually have PLC's at our school also and they have been very good. It can be a great help to teams and districts. I look forward to seeing how your campus reacts to them being implemented. I think that It will work out great for you :) Good Luck with everything :)
